Lancaster University has appointed local business Carringtons Coffee Co. as its new supplier of coffee.

Carringtons Coffee Co. beverages are now available at a range of campus outlets after winning the contract to supply Lancaster University with coffee.

Established in 2019 by Lancaster alumni Suzy (Fine Art, 2011, Pendle) and Alex Carrington (Politics and International Relations, 2010, Grizedale), the Carnforth–based business roasts fully traceable, speciality coffees.

A competitive procurement tender process involved staff and students blind tasting coffee from a range of suppliers, with Carrington’s coming out on top for price and sustainability.

Its coffee will be available in The Deli, Barkers, The Mill, Hive, Pendle Brew and all internal catering deliveries and events booked through Food and Dining.

Jo Hardman, Director of Commercial Services, said: "We are excited to be working with a local up-and-coming business that reflects the University’s sustainability and community objectives – and it’s a bonus that they were founded by Lancaster alumni."

Suzy Carrington of Carringtons Coffee Co. said: "Getting the contract with Lancaster University is a huge win for Carringtons.

"Our business is about so much more than coffee. Through our wider 'Fuelling the Bold' initiative, we support the wellbeing of individuals across our community. Through events, through our own Bold coffee shops, but often just through a simple conversation over a cup of coffee.

"So, we’re really delighted to bring our coffee to the University and have the opportunity to reconnect with the community there."
