Empowering the nuclear sector: Lancaster University host cyber security training for industry professionals

The World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS), in collaboration with Lancaster University and the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), has successfully completed the fourth delivery of its flagship training course, Cybersecurity in the Nuclear Industry. Held at Lancaster University, the in-person training course brought together participants from across the UK’s nuclear sector to deepen their understanding of current cyber security challenges and practical solutions.
The course is designed to equip nuclear industry professionals with the latest knowledge and tools to implement and manage cyber security for information technology and operational technology, while also meeting the fundamental training requirements for the UK Government’s Civil Nuclear Cyber Security Strategy.
Delivered by cyber security experts from AIT and the UK nuclear industry. and enriched by real-world case studies on implementing and managing cyber security, the training also explored topics such as regulation for cyber security, cyber security for nuclear transport and cyber security for the nuclear supply chain.
Participants also benefited from hands-on sessions and peer discussions, reinforcing the value of collaborative learning in an evolving threat landscape.
