CUIDAR consists of a series of eight interconnecting ‘Work Packages’:
Work Package 1 – Project Management and Co-ordination (led by Lancaster University, UK)
Work Package 2 – A scoping review of existing research and disaster management policies and practices relating to children and young people (led by Open University of Catalonia, Spain).
Work Package 3 – Dialogues with children and young people to understand their perceptions of risk, strengthen their resilience and empower them to communicate their perceptions, priorities and needs in disasters to disaster practitioners (led by Save the Children, Italy).
Work Package 4 – Mutual learning exercises with children, young people and disaster practitioners to raise awareness and influence local disaster policies and plans to include the particular needs and capacities of children and young people (led by Save the Children, UK).
Work Package 5 – Awareness raising and communication using national level dialogues with policy makers to communicate the needs, priorities and capacities of children and young people in disasters and influence policy and practice. Also a European level dialogue to share learning from each country’s initiatives (led by Open University of Catalonia, Spain).
Work Package 6 – Development of an EU framework for engaging with children and young people in disasters (led by Lancaster University, UK).
Work Package 7 – Project Dissemination (led by Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal)
Work Package 8 – Ethics (led by Lancaster University, UK)
