Weihai-Lancaster-Cheltenham Photo Exhibition

Weihai Municipal Government invited cities in the UK with whom it has a twin or friendship relationship to collaborate on a photo exhibition with the theme of ‘One planet...many ways to care for our environment’.
The event was co-organised by Foreign Affairs Office of Weihai Municipal People's Government, Weihai Art Photography Society, Lancaster University Confucius Institute, Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham City Photography Association.
Weihai Municipal Government contacted Cheltenham and Lancaster Confucius Institute (who were partners) to request submissions.
Lancaster University Confucius Institute received 43 submissions from people based in Lancaster, many representing the nearby Lake District which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Their work is now on display at the exhibition.
The exhibition opened on 16th June 2023 at Ocean Art Gallery in Weihai Mass Art Museum, China. Lancaster University Confucius Institute Director, Professor Jinghan Zeng has been to visit the exhibition during his visit to China.
The Right Worshipful Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Roger Dennison sent a video message of congratulations from Lancaster.
