Professor Shulan Tang's Seminar on Long COVID Recovery with Chinese Medicine
On Wednesday 15th May, Professor Shulan Tang delivered an informative seminar titled ‘Chinese Medicine and Medical Treatment: Recovery Therapy after the Pandemic,’ co-hosted by the Liverpool Confucius Institute and Lancaster University Confucius Institute. The event, which attracted over 30 participants both in-person and online, delved into the diagnosis, treatment and therapeutic models for long-term sequelae of COVID-19, commonly known as long COVID, a condition associated with long-term health and wellness symptoms.
Professor Tang, a renowned practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with a practice in Manchester since 1991, has been at the forefront of treating long-COVID patients. Leveraging on the TCM Five Elements Theory, she categorizes symptoms based on physiology and pathogenic relationship, allowing for personalised treatment regimens involving herbal medicines and acupuncture.
Throughout the seminar, Professor Tang shared her insights into the treatment model inspired by TCM theories coupled with her practices and successful treatment outcomes, offering hope and alternative solutions for those suffering from this persistent condition. Her approach has provided relief to many, highlighting the potential of Chinese medicine in addressing complex modern health challenges.
