Lancaster University Confucius Institute Welcome Week Activities

Dumpling making
On Wednesday, Lancaster University Confucius Institute ran two dumpling making sessions in The Roundhouse kitchen. There was a choice of making mince beef dumplings with mushroom or scrambled egg and courgette dumplings. The students enjoyed chatting to staff and making new friends with other students whilst making dumplings. Once the dumplings were ready, everybody came together to eat the dumplings.
Chinese board games and calligraphy
On Friday, the Lancaster University Confucius Institute team hosted Chinese board games and calligraphy in the Lancaster University Library. Students came together to learn how to play Chinese Go and Chinese chess with the team and a student from the Lancaster University Go society.
Next to the Chinese board games was an opportunity for students to learn about Chinese calligraphy and have a go at writing Chinese characters using a calligraphy brush and ink.
Lancaster Chinese Friendship Programme Stall
In addition to the Chinese activities in the Lancaster University library, there was also an opportunity for students to sign up for the Lancaster Chinese Friendship Programme.
The Lancaster Chinese Friendship Programme was established in 2022 to give students learning Chinese and native Chinese speaking students the opportunity to make friends through a programme of Chinese language and culture activities.
