At the beginning of August, the Lancaster University Confucius Institute team held their annual summer school for children, which has received very positive feedback from both parents and carers, and children.

Over the course of a week, the children learned a variety of Chinese language: how to introduce themselves, numbers one to ten, colours, animals and food. Accompanied by this were various arts and crafts activities such as Chinese calligraphy, learning how to create a Chinese painting, making paper and more! The children also learned about the zodiac animals, the Lunar new year and how to cook a Chinese dish.

During break times, the children enjoyed playing with Chinese dragons outside the Confucius Institute building and they said that they enjoyed making new friends.

At the end of the week, the children performed a Chinese dance routine. After the dance routine, the children were presented a certificate and their portfolio of work.

Want to find out more? Lancaster University Confucius Institute also offer China Days and after school clubs in local schools, where we can run a variety of activities from language learning to Chinese arts and crafts activities. Community Events | Lancaster University
