Lancaster University Confucius Institute holds Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in Lancaster and Blackpool

On Saturday 30th September 2023, Lancaster University Confucius Institute (LUCI) hosted Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in both Lancaster and Blackpool for members of the community, observing Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in a fun-filled way.
Lancaster Central Library
Starting from 10am, the event at Lancaster Central Library featured a variety of activities including hands-on rabbit paper-cutting, a taste of Chinese tea with Chinese tea ceremony, an opportunity to have a go at Chinese calligraphy with the character for moon (月) and interactive storytelling inspired by traditional Chinese folktales. Immersed in the activities, members of the public enjoyed their time during the festival celebration, with an activity for all the family to experience Chinese language and culture.
Moor Park Library, Blackpool
At Moor Park Library, Lancaster University Confucius Institute teachers and two Chinese language learners, Krystyna and Lydia, provided locals with activities involving Chinese ink painting, paper-cutting and Chinese chess. The highlight of the day was the mooncake making activity and trying on traditional Chinese-style attire.
The celebrations held by Lancaster University Confucius Institute were a great success, providing local people of all ages the opportunity to experience Chinese culture through a wide range of engaging activities.
