Lancaster University Confucius Institute and the Department of Languages and Cultures are celebrating great success in the Chinese Bridge competition on Monday 27th June 2022. The Chinese Bridge competition is a worldwide Chinese language proficiency competition with a UK regional final held in London each year. Chinese language learners from all over the UK attend the competition.

On Monday, Lancaster University second year Chinese language student, Harvey Hulse, won an Enthusiastic Participation Award in the regional final of the competition, being just one of ten contestants who got through to this stage of the competition. This is a great achievement!

We would also like to say a special thanks to Harvey’s Chinese language teacher, Wang Xianghui, who supported Harvey throughout the entire process.

Also at the competition was our former Global Chinese Bridge contestant, Cameron Patterson, who is now a Student Ambassador for Lancaster University Confucius Institute. In 2015, Cameron was Chinese Bridge European Champion and won World Second Place at the global final of the Chinese Bridge competition. He was therefore invited to be one of the key judges of the competition this year.
