Between 22nd-27th May, around 300 people including Lancaster University staff, students, members of the local community and people from across the globe attended the Chinese Pagoda exhibition in The Storey, Lancaster.

The Pagoda exhibition was created by Lancaster University students Hao Yang, a PhD student at the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) and Yuhong Lei, a PhD student in the Department of Educational Research. They were awarded £3,000 from Lancaster University Confucius Institute’s China Engagement Fund to use towards their exhibition.

The artist, Hao Yang, spent four years travelling around China and photographing different pagodas. Hao Yang and curator Yuhong Lei worked hard to ensure that the exhibition was a success.

Lancaster University Confucius Institute’s China engagement fund will also be used to fund an upcoming workshop on the landscape of Chinese Research Funding, which is due to take place at the start of the next academic year. This workshop aims to facilitate joint UK-China research and development programmes in Lancaster University, via promoting a better understanding of China’s national and regional research and innovation funding agencies in both public and private sectors.

More details about this workshop to follow.
