Location
When you’re at a conference or an event, it’s what’s in the room that matters most. The people you’re meeting, the facilities you need, the services provided. They’re all crucial. But the world outside that room has a crucial part to play in the experience too. With a campus like ours and a city like Lancaster, we offer a setting like few others.
Lancaster is the university closest to the geographic centre of Great Britain. It is just over two hours from London and Edinburgh on the West Coast Line, and well served by main line rail. The M6 motorway provides quick and convenient car travel to the length of the country. In just over an hour from Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds you could be exploring our beautiful City. Lancaster offers a great transport network with superb links between the city, campus and further afield.
Lancaster University is set in 560 acres of beautiful parkland and lies approximately three miles south of the City of Lancaster. The campus is easily accessible via road, rail and bicycle and is within 70 miles of Manchester’s International Airport.
A modern city, with an incredible heritage
Urban or rural. Buzzing hustle and bustle or beautiful peace and quiet. Modern attitudes and culture, or ancient heritage and character. Here, these are choices you don’t need to make. Lancaster offers it all.
Lancaster is the perfect base to explore the surrounding areas with some of the most gorgeous landscapes the UK has to offer – with the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Morecambe Bay and the Forest of Bowland within easy reach.
World-class Research
Lancaster University is among the best in the UK. A top 15 university in all 3 UK league tables, we are also highly ranked in international league tables such as the QS World Rankings.
League tables can’t tell you everything about a university, but they’re a good place to start. Out of over 120 UK Universities, we are consistently in the top twenty of all three main league tables.
Lancaster is a research-intensive university, with 35% of our research classed as world-leading and 48% classed as internationally excellent in the UK Government's most recent independent review, the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
Facilities on campus
Within our award winning campus and facilities, we have the capacity to hold meetings, training sessions, exhibitions, networking events, gala dinners, team away days and more!
Our brand new venue Margaret Fell Lecture Theatre is now the largest on campus seating up to 400 people*, featuring state-of-the-art audio visual equipment.
When the meetings are over and the conversations are complete, the day can end with waiting for public transport, checking into rooms, or with a short stroll through a parkland campus to our accommodation. We have 80 dedicated rooms throughout the year, rising to more than 1000 rooms during the summer, with a mix of single, twin and double rooms. Room only rates start from just £37pp per night.
Locally sourced Food & Dining
Our Food & Dining team understand the importance of excellent food for your meeting or event. Good food at your event is essential to energize delegates enhancing their overall experience. Where possible our food is produced with fresh ingredients from local suppliers to make the most of the best produce the North West has to offer.
The Green Lancaster Eco Hub, a collaboration between the university and student union provides a space to grow food produce in line with the Edible campus initiative and is an area available to conference delegates to offer a unique event experience.
Sustainability
Sustainability is a core value for all at Lancaster University and we actively promote sustainability to those who use our venues. At Lancaster University Conferences and Events+ we’re proud to be at the forefront of the sustainable conference movement; leading the way by making our offering more environmentally friendly, encouraging greener behaviours wherever we can. Incorporating green initiatives, such as offering tree planting ceremonies, into events is a great way to do this.
Through the university’s well documented green initiatives, including the onsite wind turbine which is projected to generate up to 20% of the University’s annual electricity consumption, we give clients the reassurance that our sustainability values are credible and making real change.
