An App for Comics and Inclusive Learning

CiELL was a European collaborative project on innovation in higher education. It focused on inclusion in English language learning. Inclusion is defined in the United Nations framework as:
“a process of systemic reform embodying changes and modifications in content, teaching methods, approaches, structures and strategies in education to overcome barriers with a vision serving to provide all students of the relevant age range with an equitable and participatory learning experience and environment that best corresponds to their requirements and preferences”. (United Nations, 2016, para 11)
An app was designed to offer an informal, flexible, and alternative way of learning English language writing using comics as a mnemonic device. The comic’s stories have the potential to assist students in remembering writing structures for essays, articles, and reviews with close reference to Cambridge English examinations (IELTS & PCE).
