Emeritus ProfessorResearch Overview
My research area is the development and advanced application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, particularly with the aim of investigating both structure and dynamics in the solid state. One notable specialism is my interest in NMR of high-spin or quadrupolar nuclei, such as 11B, 17O, 23Na or 27Al, although I also have expertise in areas as diverse as composite rotations in solution-state NMR and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Materials that I am interested in studying by solid-state NMR include micro- and mesoporous solids, minerals, other inorganic solids, polymers, and heterogeneous biocatalysts.
