Sharing information in disasters can raise complex ethical, legal and social issues (ELSI). At a workshop with emergency practitioners, commercial and academic developers of information sharing platforms, and experts on digital ethics and law, the SecInCoRe project hosted a consultation on ‘ELSI Guidance for Information Sharing in Disaster Risk Management’. This is a community platform we are developing, in partnership with Public Safety Europe.
On 26 January 2017, we hosted a workshop at the International Computer, Data Protection and Privacy Conference in Brussels to open the ELSI Guidance for consultation. Building on discussion around a series of talks by emergency responders and IT developers about the practicalities of information sharing, we explored how the guidance might help. The video below gives a glimpse of activities. To find out more, visit the workshop website.
