We are excited to announce that Lancaster University has been ranked 11th in RateMyPlacement’s ‘Best University for Work Experience’ table for 2025, moving up from 14th place last year! This recognition highlights the university’s dedication to providing outstanding career and placement support for our students.

The winners of the 2025 RateMyPlacement Awards, organised by RateMyPlacement.co.uk, were announced on Wednesday 5th February. Five hundred of the industry’s finest came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Employers and Universities in undergraduate work experience. Exclusive trends and insights from RateMyPlacement’s latest student research survey were shared before a panel discussion with key industry stakeholders. The Best 100 Student Employers, Best 40 Small to Medium-sized Schemes, and the Best 50 Universities for Work Experience tables were then unveiled at the Awards Ceremony.

The RateMyPlacement Awards are particularly significant because they are based solely on student-written reviews, reflecting genuine experiences and feedback from those who have benefited from our careers and placement services.

Jo Hobbs, Placement Year Manager and Careers Consultant at Lancaster University, shared her thoughts on this achievement:

“I am delighted that Lancaster University has ranked 11th in Rate My Placement’s ‘Best University for Work Experience’ table this year, moving up from 14th position last year. Our Careers and Placements teams across all Faculties are driven to support our students to secure meaningful placement opportunities and we offer support at every stage from the initial placement search process through to assimilating into the professional workplace. This table ranking is based solely on student-written reviews so we are very proud to have been recognised by our students for the support we offer.”

At Lancaster, we are committed to helping students gain valuable work experience that enhances their employability and prepares them for success in their chosen careers. Our Careers and Placements teams work to support students at every stage of their journey, from searching for placements to thriving in the workplace.

We are grateful to our students who completed this survey based on their experience of searching and applying for insight schemes, vacation schemes, summer internships and placement year roles during the 23/24 academic year. This achievement reflects the strong partnerships we’ve built with employers and our continuous drive to enhance career opportunities for all Lancaster students.

Congratulations to everyone involved! Here’s to even greater success in the future.
