Smoking or Vaping on Campus
Where is smoking prohibited on campus?
Smoking is prohibited by law within any building, or under any covered area falling under the definition of a ‘substantially enclosed space’ which includes covered quads, the spine, the underpass and covered areas of Alexandra Square (including the area in front of the library). No smoking signs are displayed at relevant areas of campus, please comply with them.
What should I do if I see someone smoking in a prohibited area? Point out relevant signage and ask the individual to move to another area where smoking is allowed.
What is the University’s position on ‘e-cigarettes’? The use of electronic cigarettes and other devices used for ‘vaping’ is prohibited in any areas where smoking is prohibited.
