Maths prize for BLS academic

Dr Richard Mort and Dr Kit Yates

Dr Richard Mort (BLS Lancaster), Dr Kit Yates (University of Bath) and Matt Ford (McGill, Canada) have been awarded the Lee A. Segal prize for best published paper in the the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology in the last two years.

The Lee Segel Prizes were established in memory of Lee Segel, who made great contributions to the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology and the field of mathematical biology as a whole. The prizes honour outstanding contributions to the field of mathematical biology and will help to promote and advance important research findings in this scientific area.

Their research describes a new method to model cell cycle progression using stochastic simulation algorithms that can infer realistic cell cycle time distibutions.
