Research Overview

Gemma Xarles i Jubany is a PhD student in the Department of Educational Research and Director of Globalization and Cooperation at the UOC (Open University of Catalonia). Previously, she was the Director of the Human Development Virtual School at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Social Justice is the leitmotiv of her professional and research experience. Using qualitative research methodologies, her current research projects investigate the experiences of non-traditional students in online higher education.

Areas of work: intersection between education and social justice; online education; refugees and displaced people in education; democratizing internationalization of HE; decolonizing curricula.
