The Center for Child and Family Justice Research at Lancaster University is pleased to invite you to the launch of an important new report, “Come to Us in a Peaceful Way: Improving Experiences of Roma Families with Children’s Services in England.” This significant report, developed by an interdisciplinary research team from Lancaster University, Anglia Ruskin University, and Law for Life, examines the challenges Roma families face when engaging with child protection services and provides eviden
The report sheds light on systemic and cultural barriers that limit Roma families' trust in and access to children’s services. Through legal case analyses, professional surveys, and focus groups, the research team highlights the impact of discrimination, poverty, and communication challenges. It also outlines practical strategies to enhance cultural competence, build trust, and support better outcomes for Roma children and their families.
