Hi, I’m Giles and I’m one of Lancaster University’s very first cohort of Architecture students.
I'd like to share some photos of a project during my first year at Lancaster.
In these photos I'm working on a project and using facilities in the new architecture studio. The project brief was to create a space where different types of conversations could occur in Alexandra Square, at the heart of campus.
I started by drawing some conceptual sketches using the drawing boards we're provided with. They're incredibly helpful for getting perpendicular angles, horizontal lines and a better perspective of our drawings.
I took photographs of the various models I made during the project (models such as concept, massing and final model). Taking good quality, professional photographs in the photo light booth means I can present them in my portfolio.
Using the 1:100 Scale model of Alexandra Square on campus, I was able to visualise how my design would fit in and look on the site. This makes the design process more thorough and realistic because I can spot any aspects which I need to consider and include in the portfolio.
In this shot I'm reviewing my work on the free Surface we were given when we started the course.
