Welcome message from Professor Jane Taylor. University Dean, Academic Quality and Director, Institute for Curriculum Enhancement

Hi everyone

Welcome to the 2022 Undergraduate Research Conference. We are delighted you are joining us for our 3rd annual conference and we hope that you will fully engage with all the event has to offer, and experience what it means to take part in a research conference.

Lancaster University has always had a strong tradition of delivering both excellent research, and a high quality teaching experience for our students. This conference aims to bring together the best of both of those worlds, enabling undergraduate students to present their own research findings to a wider audience.

Building on the success of last year’s event, we once again welcome students from across the network of Lancaster University partners. We are delighted to host 90 presentations not only from our UK partners, but also our worldwide partnership, across an extensive range of disciplines. To support our presenters, we have a dedicated student support team who have worked collaboratively across the partnership, organising conference activities, supporting the technology and driving the communications. I thank all presenters and support teams for their contributions, which are critical to delivering a successful event.

There will be plenty of opportunities during the conference for presenters, support teams and delegates to interact and discuss the fascinating range of presentations on display. There will also be a series of daily talks and discussions on a range of topics, which you can either watch live, or as a recording after each event.

Being part of a conference offers something for all undergraduates, whether you are aiming for a career in research, developing your organisational skills, finding out what student research is taking place or making new connections with fellow students from the wider Lancaster partnership. I would encourage you all to join in the range conference activities as widely as you can, to help to deliver an authentic research conference experience for everyone.

On behalf of myself and the conference organising team, we hope you will find this both an enjoyable and enlightening experience.
