Cyberbullying: Growing Problem of Cyber Bullying on Social Media

Cyberbullying has been the subject of a lot of research in recent years. Cyberbullying, or bullying that occurs through the use of electronic communication technologies such as

e-mail, instant messaging, social media, online gaming, or digital messages or photos transmitted to a cellular phone, has been the subject of a lot of studies in the previous decade.

EFFECTS

Cyberbullying on social media has a significant impact on a person’s mood and irritation as well as increasing the user’s social isolation and the ruin of their closest relationships. It can be the root of numerous disorders and diseases. As a result, it is necessary to raise awareness in order to curb it or better still put an end to it.

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

Taking a few steps will help one prevent cyberbullying from occurring in the first place. These include:

• The restrict Feature

This tool allows account managers to essentially shadow ban a user who makes harsh or abusive comments on photos.

• The privacy features

A user can keep their account public, but they can also make it more secure by turning on the private profile switch. By doing so users are able to restrict certain caliber of people from viewing their feed.

• The block features

Block is a tool that allows you to manage your interactions with other accounts. This feature allows users to prevent certain accounts from contacting them, viewing their material, or following them.

Proposed Solutions

Even though there is a block feature, the privacy feature, privacy feature, users who have been blocked  or being faced with the features above can still come back to harrass the user or users because they still have the chance to create another profile to continue their bad deed.

A hardware ban should be issued. This has to deal with a permanently preventing a user from using the same mac address to create a new account on the app because simply creating a new and free account when the ser has been reported multiple times should no longer be an option.
