Global Week 2024

Global Week celebrates the culture and diversity of our campuses and is an opportunity for staff and students to share our global impact through a series of events and activities.

Global Experiences

Event Highlight: Cultural Festival

When: Wednesday 21st February 01:00 pm - 04:00 pm

Where: Great Hall

Come and join our amazing Cultural Festival!

We offer a fantastic opportunity for students and staff to join us to celebrate the many cultures and countries that makeup Lancaster University. Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Talk to key staff about travel opportunities over the summer and funding available, such as the Turing Scheme and Global Travel Fund
  • Interact with staff regarding career opportunities and how study/work abroad experiences can look on a CV
  • Connect with study societies, who will be exhibiting their activities and skills
  • Free food from around the world!
  • Communicate with students who have lived overseas and taken part in Lancaster-organised experiences
  • Craft sessions run by the Confucius Institute: come and try your hand at making a Chinese lantern or calligraphy
  • Be wowed by the amazing Art Beats exhibition, working in partnership with Sunway University (Malaysia)

Italian Language Cafe

Where: Roundhouse Kitchen

Explore communication across cultures and languages. The event is open to home students and international students interested in sharing and brushing up on any of their languages, from complete beginners to native speakers. Even if you do not speak the language but are interested in learning about a culture or sharing your culture, do come along.

Italian Songs Workshop

When: 01:00pm - 02:00pm

Where: Bowland North SR6

We will study some rudimentary Italian sounds, then read the lyrics to a popular, well-known tune. (All will be revealed on the day!) We will then listen to the song, and in the final part of the session, we will sing it ourselves.

Student Travel Funding Opportunities - How to apply

Sustainability and Leadership Trip - Switzerland 2024 - Information Talk

When: 02:00pm

Where: Management School LT17

Sustainability and Leadership is a vacation travel opportunity delivered as a partnership between Green Lancaster and Lancaster University Global Experiences. Participants on the programme spend a week based in and around the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. The programme includes travel to and from the UK by rail.

During the week-long programme, you will join fellow Lancaster students in collaborative workshops on themes of environmental sustainability, leadership, and the alpine environment. The trip includes a 2-day hiking excursion in the Swiss Alps with an overnight stay in a traditional mountain cabin.

The Malaysian Experience - Vacation Travel Program - Information Talk

When: 05:00pm

Where: Management School LT8

The Malaysian Experience (TheME) is a 4-week programme to explore Malaysia's many wonders! Learn through a mix of lectures, workshops, projects and experiential escapes. You will be engaged in food, government, business, arts, religion, language and more topics!

All participants will receive financial funding from the Turing Scheme. Additional funding may also be eligible for qualifying participants.
