Cheaper parking permit for electric vehicles
A discounted annual Plug-in Electric Vehicle Parking Permit for 2024-25 priced at £165.12 is available for plug-in electric vehicles. You then pay for what you use at the charging points each time at a flat rate of 34p/kWh. Other parking permits are also valid at the charging points.

- Visitor Car Park E: 4 spaces
- Visitor Car Park I - Farrer Avenue: 1 space
- Health Innovation Campus: 10 spaces
- Gillow Avenue: 1 space
- Visitor Car Park C - John Creed Avenue: 12 spaces
The usual parking permit and visitor parking rules apply. Drivers must use the AMP-EV app to access a charging point. Users are then billed for the amount of electricity used.

First check that you have pushed the plug fully into the socket. Pulling the plug before the lock has released can cause the lock to jam in the plug.

Yes, you won't be able to use the charging points unless you register a payment card to your AMP-EV account on the app. Payment by ApplePay is also possible.
Yes, EV Permit holders can park in any staff parking space when not using one of the charging points and display their permit. Student EV Permit holders must park on South-West Campus if not using one of the charging points.
No, you will only be charged for the electricity your vehicle consumes whilst plugged into the charging point. When fully charged, the vehicle stops drawing electricity from the charging point.
Yes. Drivers can choose to end the charging session remotely by stopping the charging in the app. This will prevent any further electricity from being used even when the charging cable remains plugged into the charging point.
