3.1.3 Binomial Random Variables: 𝖡𝗂𝗇(n,θ)

A model for outcomes of experiments which count the number of 1 values in a sequence of n independent Bernoulli trials (each with probability θ of a 1). The sample space is {0,1,,n} and

p(r)=(nr)θr(1-θ)n-r

for r=0,1,2,,n, and p(r)=0 otherwise.

  1. 𝖤[R]=nθ,

  2. 𝖵𝖺𝗋[R]=nθ(1-θ).
