5.8 Notation for double integrals

We often shorten the notation by deleting the braces, so we write

where the inner variable of integration has limits on the inner integral symbol. We work from the inside outwards, observing that the limits $a$ and $b$ relate to the $x$ variable, where $x$ is integrated first.
