The chain rule is often applied to find related rates of change, a notion that is illustrated in the following example.

Example

A spherical balloon is inflated so that its volume VV increases at a constant rate kk with respect to time tt. To find the rate of change of the radius rr with respect to time, and interpret the result geometrically.
