Thank you for choosing to stay with us and welcome to Lancaster. Below, you will find lots of useful information about staying in our Guest Rooms, including housekeeping, emergency procedures, checking out, where to eat and drink, and how to make the most of the wonderful facilities on campus.

The check-in process is completely contactless, from 3pm.
Guests will receive an email 2-3 working days before arriving on campus, including the details of/directions to your accommodation and a 4-digit access code to the key box.
To connect to Visitor Wi-Fi, look for LU-Visitor in your list of Wi-Fi networks and follow the Visitor Wi-Fi registration instructions on your device. LU-Visitor is a public Wi-Fi network and so not a secure network. It is designed for temporary access; you will need to sign back in every 24 hours.

You will need to:

Register to use LU Visitor Wi-Fi with either a: Google account, Facebook account or using email verification (providing a personal email address)
If you choose email verification:
An email will be sent to the personal email address you gave. Open the email on the same device, and click on the link to verify the connection. You will be given 10 minutes internet connection to allow you to complete the registration.
Once verified you will have 24 hours access to Visitor Wi-Fi.
Do Not Disturb
There is a Do Not Disturb sign in your room. If you do not wish to be disturbed, please place the Do Not Disturb sign on your door handle (red-side-out) by 10am.
Maintenance

Top Ups
For a room service including the top up of towels, toilet rolls, tea and coffee, and emptying of bins, please place the Do Not Disturb sign (white-side-out) on your door handle by 10am.

Smoking/Vaping Policy
A no smoking policy applies in our guest rooms. This includes the use of electronic cigarettes. There are no smoking signs throughout the building.
Please smoke outside, but not adjacent to the entrance of the building or to any windows of rooms.
There is a charge of £150 if you are found to be smoking within your room, used for the extra cleaning involved to restore the room.
Anyone needing the emergency services should dial 999. Once the emergency services are aware, please call Security on 01524 594541, who will meet the emergency services when they arrive on campus and escort them to you. There is an internal phone located on the ground floor foyer of your accommodation.
Fire Procedure
If the fire alarm sounds then you must evacuate the building as quickly and safely as possible and proceed to the fire evacuation point shown on the back of your guest room door.
Breakfast
If you have chosen our B&B option, breakfast will be served from 7.30am-10.30am, Monday to Friday, or 8am-11.00am, Saturday to Sunday, at The Marketplace located in County South Building.
Don’t worry about taking anything with you, just tell the cashier your name and they’ll tick you off the list.
Bars, Cafes, and Restaurants
There are many Bars, Cafes, and Restaurants within walking distance of our Guest Rooms, here are a few favourites:
The Deli
Located just off the entrance to the South Spine from Alexandra Square, The Deli is Lancaster University's most modern eatery serving food that brings a smile to your face.
The Marketplace
This venue offers a rotating menu with plenty of hot, savoury options, a salad bar, an abundance of sweet treats and fresh cakes, and a selection of homemade Bailrigg Food Company sandwiches, all of which can be enjoyed with a Costa coffee.
The Mill
Situated in the heart of campus, The Mill @ Fylde is a sports bar and offers great value, easy food options like burgers, pizzas and nachos.
Food for any mood
Other places to eat on campus include Pizetta Republic, Guan Zi Restaurant, Subway, Greggs, and more. Browse the many food outlets and opening times before visiting your chosen food outlet on campus.
Laundrettes
There are eight laundrettes on campus which guests are welcome to use for a small fee.
Pharmacy
Lancaster University Pharmacy is located on North Spine should any medicines or advice be required during a stay in Guest Rooms. The pharmacy's opening times vary throughout the year in relation to University terms and vacation period. Check the Opening Times before visiting.
Shops and ReStore
Guests can find a Spar, WHSmith, and Post Office on campus for any daily needs. ReStore, a new sustainable shop on Alexandra Square, offers a variety of eco-friendly products and services in collaboration with St John’s Hospice and Green Lancaster. ReStore sells a range of items, such as clothing, homewares, cycling equipment, eco-friendly toiletries, and more.
Sport Lancaster
Our state-of-the-art sports centre offers a vast range of indoor and outdoor facilities, including a 25m Swimming Pool, a 100-station Strength & Conditioning Suite, a Climbing Wall, and more.
Take advantage of the Pay As You Play rates and enjoy the facilities without being a member. Please note, to use the gym, you must first complete an Online Gym Induction.

The Nuffield Theatre
A key UK theatrical venue for presenting and commissioning experimental theatre, contemporary dance and live art. As well as presenting up to 30 visiting professional shows a year, from some of the best-known and respected contemporary theatre and dance companies from the UK and abroad, The Nuffield Theatre also presents public performances by students, societies and a range of local community organisations.
Peter Scott Gallery
Lancaster’s Peter Scott Gallery presents a varied programme of temporary exhibitions and associated talks. Admission is free of charge and everyone is welcome.

Trim Trail
Our versatile Trim Trail combines fun and fitness for a range of physical ability. Designed to improve your cardiovascular system, each exercise will also test your upper and lower body strength, endurance and agility. Located just across from the Sports Centre, this free activity is an ideal challenge for all levels.
Woodland Walk
The 150 year old woodland which surrounds the campus is perfect for taking some time out to enjoy peace and quiet in the great outdoors. The route is a total of 2.6 miles long and can be enjoyed by all level of ability, from those looking for an interesting run to those wanting a short stroll.
Lancaster is one of England’s Heritage Cities with plenty of things to see and places to eat and drink whilst you’re staying with us.
Lancaster Castle
Lancaster Castle is owned by His Majesty the King, who is the Duke of Lancaster. As well as being a fortification, the Castle was also Europe’s longest-serving operational prison until its closure in March 2011. Access to the castle is via daily guided tours.
Williamson Park
Visit Williamson Park’s 54 acres of beautiful parkland and enchanting walks with breathtaking views of the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District fells and mountains. Whilst you’re there you can also step inside the tropical butterfly house or visit the Ashton Memorial.
Lancaster Comedy Club
Lancaster Comedy Club at The Borough has a reputation as one of the area’s best Sunday nights out, combining dining and laughs.

Lancaster’s Real Ale and Tipple Trail
If cask ales are your thing you’re in luck. With 28 real ale pubs and 167 hand pumps all within a few minutes’ walk of Lancaster’s Market Square - you’ll be spoilt for choice. For a handy map to find all the real ale venues just search Northern City of Ale in your web browser.
Lancaster Escape
Lancaster Escape consists of being locked in a room for sixty minutes. The only way to escape is by working as a team to solve a series of clues, riddles and puzzles. Find out more at lancasterescape.co.uk.
Car Parking
Visitor car parking is available on campus 24/7 and is free between 6pm and 8am Mon to Fri after 6pm and at weekends.
A ticket can be purchased using RingGo Cashless Parking Solutions and all payments are made using the RingGo app, web-based services or by phone, and machine payments are contactless.
Use RingGo code 46235 to purchase parking in the Visitor Car Park adjacent to the Guest Bedrooms (John Creed Building).
If you need to book a taxi, the Reception team can organise this for you. Alternatively, the phone number to call for a local taxi is 01524 32090.
Bus
There is a regular bus service in to Lancaster City Centre which operates from The Underpass in the centre of campus, as well as various bus stops around the perimeter road. Bus timetables can be found at all bus stops.
Printing
Our Reception team will happily assist you with printing any boarding passes or travel information. Please call us during your stay to arrange this.
Check Out is completely contactless and all Guest Rooms must be vacated by 10am. Please leave your key in the key drop box located in the entrance foyer of your accommodation building, next to the front door. Please do not return your key to the safe box, thank you.
