• • Nominations can be put forward by any colleague within the Faculty and are invited on behalf of the nominated colleague/s.
  • The nomination must detail the case for the award, using the appropriate nomination form.
  • The deadline for the receipt of nominations is 30th September 2024.
  • Evaluation of nominations will be made by an awards panel, chaired by the Executive Dean.

Researcher and Early Career Researcher award

Nominations should outline how and why the nominee is an outstanding researcher. The award will consider the career stage of the staff members. It is important that you provide evidence to support the nominations. You may want to address some of the following areas:

• Research funding success
• Outstanding paper / outstanding publication record
• High quality applied research that influences public policy
• High quality applied research shown to impact and shape practices outside academia
• Contribution to the research environment
• Support for early career staff (for senior staff)
• Outstanding international profile (for senior staff)
• Excellence in research leadership (for senior staff)
• Developing major international research partnership (for senior staff)

Teaching award

Nominations should outline how and why the nominee is an outstanding teacher. The award will consider the career stage of the staff members. It is important that you include examples to support the nomination. You may want to address some of the following areas:

Teaching Methods and Innovation - innovative course design, research stimulated exemplary teaching, distinctive learning processes

Student Experience and Support – response to specific challenges, engagement with student feedback, support and influence of student learning, impact on employability, development of support materials for students (any media), creative and effective use of technology to enhance flexible learning opportunities and the creation of a good rapport with students

Other Indicators of Excellence and Leadership – dissemination of effective practice (within/outside the university, through publications, etc.), external profile in the scientific community, impact on major international teaching partnership, leadership of teaching practice / programme development, etc.

Engagement award:

This award is designed to highlight and reward contributions above and beyond on a broad range of faculty activities. This can be about contributing to a particular activity, raising awareness and leading on changes. All staff are eligible for this award. Examples of areas this award covers include:

Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) award

This award is designed to recognise significant contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within the faculty. Strong cases will:

show changes in culture or attainment that have advanced EDI at department, cross-department or university level.  Deep contributions to specific groups or even individuals can be considered.

demonstrate that the impact of this nominee’s work go beyond the formal responsibilities of their role. Perhaps they are acting voluntarily, working proactively, contributing to the positive culture of a team or showing exceptional leadership.

Professional Services Staff award (Administrative)

This award is designed to reflect the contribution of administrative professional services staff to effective Faculty operations.

Nominations should demonstrate how excellent operational support has contributed to the success of the Faculty in a specific area, or across a range of activities e.g. in relation to staff experience, student experience, student recruitment, support for delivery or promotion of research or engagement.

Technical Staff award

This award is designed to reflect the contribution of technical professional services staff to effective Faculty operations.

Nominations should demonstrate how excellent operational support has contributed to the success of the Faculty in a specific area, or across a range of activities e.g. in relation to staff experience, supporting delivery of teaching, contribution to student experience or student recruitment, support for delivery or promotion of research or engagement.
